About this project
This website is part of a Sensation & Perception outreach project for my neuroscience class. I chose music perception because most people don’t realize that difficulty recognizing melodies, matching pitch, or “hearing” music in your mind can be the result of real perceptual differences in the brain, not a lack of talent.
Music perception deficits—like congenital amusia or impaired auditory imagery—affect how people experience sound, emotion, and communication. Yet they’re rarely talked about, and many individuals feel misunderstood or judged.
So the goal of this website is raising awareness, reducing stigma, and encouraging more inclusive attitudes toward how differently people hear and experience music.
